Faith and spiritual support
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” (Hebrews 11:1)
For over 3 decades I have had the honor of providing spiritual support and care to people in the midst of dealing with fallout from traumatic events. Often I have asked people what gave them the strength to face the adversity that they were experiencing. The vast majority replied with something like “I don’t know what people do without faith.” Faith is a great strength during the dark times of soul. It enables us to keep believing no matter what. There is no question that there are times when life doesn’t make sense and we wonder why terrible things can happen. It is faith that helps us recover the essence of who we are when crisis strikes at the core of everything that we hold dear. Faith enables us to keep pressing on even when there is no relief in sight or any signs that things will turn out in a positive way.
